The National Aviary’s New Virtual Summer Camps

Interactive online camps connect kids to nature from the comfort of their homes.

(Pittsburgh, PA) May 19, 2020 – Operating out of an abundance of caution in response to the COVID-19 crisis, the National Aviary is moving their popular Summer Camps online in 2020. Virtual summer camps allow for campers and their families to join in on the fun from all around the world. They’ll view exclusive live and pre-recorded content, participate in hands-on crafts and activities, and meet some of the National Aviary’s amazing birds – all from the comfort of their own homes. This new format allows the National Aviary team to immerse campers in behind-the-scenes, never-before-seen content – opportunities that haven’t been offered before during Summer Camps.

The National Aviary’s summer camp programs are open for ages 6 to 18. Under the tutelage of a Camp Counselor, campers will immerse themselves in engaging activities. These may include activities such as exploring a Tropical Rainforest through a habitat tour, watching a Parrot paint during a live meet-and-greet, and learning how to make a hummingbird feeder. Participants can even stay active during bird-inspired yoga!

Dates, Times, and Ages: July 13-17: 9 am to noon

Ages 6-8: “Beaks, Wings, & Things” explores animal adaptations

July 20-24: 9 am to noon Ages 9-12: “Aviary Behind-the-Scenes” highlights how to run a zoo
