NEW! Species Spotlight: Vultures

Thurs., June 18 | 2 - 4 pm | 18+
Members: $25; Non-Members: $30

What birds are considered one of the most misunderstood?! Vultures! Come get to know the species known for being nature’s clean-up crew during this new in-depth class for adults. As some of the Earth’s most important scavengers, vultures (Hooded, King, and more!) play a critical role in disease prevention. During this interactive class, learn about the specialized biology that allows these birds to thrive as scavengers: making sure no scraps go to waste!

Meet a National Aviary expert who has traveled to South Africa to work on vulture conservation! Discover the variety of threats vultures face from humans, why they matter, and how we can all help to protect them in the wild. As a class, you will visit Condor Court to see the Aviary’s most spectacular vulture residents (and admire their impressive wingspan). You'll also meet a bird of prey Animal Ambassador up close to understand the similarities AND differences between vultures and other birds of prey.

This program is designed specifically for an adult learner audience. Participants must be 18 years or older to participate.
