The National Aviary is open daily 10 am – 5 pm

In 2018, we are closed for private events on January 29, March 20, April 10, July 21, and September 27. We are open at noon on Sunday, July 22 after Night in the Tropics.

Daily 11:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Helen M. Schmidt FliteZone™ Theater
Except for Tuesdays when our birds are resting.

You’ll be amazed by the wild wonders of the Amazon in this new, multi-media, free-flight show. Visit the National Aviary’s newly renovated Helen M. Schmidt FliteZoneTM Theater! Meet our new Toco Toucan, marvel at a Southern Three-banded Armadillo, make friends with Valentino the sloth, and be mesmerized by colorful macaws! Learn how these tropical species interact with their environments and what sustainable choices you can make to help protect the world’s rainforests!

Tickets are available at the visitor service desk and gift shop for $5.

The National Aviary’s rooftop theater is home to an amazing collection of stunning birds of prey, including Black Kites, falcons, and hawks. See these masters of the sky at their best as they soar over West Park demonstrating their hunting prowess. Also, visitors will experience a remarkable, up-close view of the art of falconry! 

Our shows are limited to 50 guests over the age of 6 years old, we encourage your to arrive early to purchase your seats, and bring a hat! 

Tickets are available at the visitor service desk and gift shop for $5.


National Aviary Members enjoy unlimited, free admission year-round.

Tickets for theater programs and Encounters are non-refundable and non-transferable to a different day/time.



Groups of 15 or more paying in a single transaction are eligible for admission discounts and experiences, like close-up encounters and live bird shows!
