The National Aviary is located on Pittsburgh’s historic Northside, just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, PNC Park, and the Children’s Museum.

Driving Directions to the National Aviary

The National Aviary is located at 700 Arch Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Parking at the National Aviary

Parking in the National Aviary parking lot is available on a first-come, first-served basis for a $7 flat rate. Visitors may access the National Aviary entrance on Arch Street via a 2-minute walk through Allegheny Commons Park.

Please note: the Aviary parking lot closes nightly at 5 pm.

Garage parking is available at the Nova Place Garage (100 South Commons Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212), about a 9-minute walk to the National Aviary, and at Federal North Garage, 1307 Federal Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212, about an 8-minute walk to the National Aviary.

Street parking is available near the National Aviary. Sections of the following streets near the National Aviary are metered, payable at the meter or through the Park Mobile app: Federal Street, N. Commons, S. Commons, E. Commons, W. Commons, Ridge Avenue, Western Avenue, W. Ohio Street, Brighton Road, Arch Street.

Free street parking is available on sections of the following streets: Buena Vista Street, Monterey Street, Resaca Place, N. Taylor Avenue, W. North Avenue.

The National Aviary is located near public transportation stops for the Port Authority of Allegheny County’s bus lines and light rail stops. Bus stops are located near the National Aviary’s entrance along North Avenue, Brighton Road, Ridge Avenue, and Arch Street.   • Summer Hours: Open daily from 10 am – 5 pm.
  • Tues., May 26: Closing at 1 pm for Staff Wellness Day!

Detour Route

Ongoing: The North Avenue Bridge at Brighton Road over the Norfolk Southern Railroad is closed. This closure does not affect the Brighton Road portion of the bridge. The eastern leg of North Avenue will also remain available for travel. Drivers who plan to head west on North Avenue should use Pennsylvania and Western Avenues.
