SEASONAL HOURS: The National Aviary is open daily from
10 am – 5 pm and CLOSED Tuesdays.
*Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) students get free admission with current school ID.CCAC student discount offered through April 2026.
Please Note: We’re re-feathering our nest! The National Aviary’s Penguin Point habitat will also be temporarily closed for routine maintenance the week of Mon., March 16. You can still meet an African Penguin Animal Ambassador during an Eggs-pert Talk at 10:30 am, 1:30, and 4 pm near the Helen M. Schmidt FliteZone™ Theater, included with General Admission! OR check “touching an African Penguin’s soft feathers” off your bucket list during a Penguin Encounter; Members receive a discount.

Check our Directions and Parking page to help plan your trip! Parking in the National Aviary parking lot is available on a first-come, first-served basis for a flat rate of $7. Please note: The Aviary parking lot closes nightly at 5 pm.

Meet feathered and furry forest friends from around the world during a National Aviary Animal Encounter! Look into an owl’s large, captivating eyes, hear the pitter-patter of a penguin’s webbed feet up close, and hand-feed a nutritious treat to a Linnaeus’s Two-toed Sloth.
Tickets for add-on opportunities may be purchased onsite at our Guest Services Desk or online when buying your General Admission tickets. Proceeds support our work to save birds and protect their habitats. Members receive a discount!

Individuals and families who have Pennsylvania Access cards may show them at the Aviary’s GuestServices Desk and receive up to four General Admission tickets for just $5 each. Please note: This discount applies to Pennsylvania Access cardholders only.

All active duty, reservists, and veterans of the United States military receive 10% off General Admission tickets with valid military identification. Please show your ID to the friendly faces at our Guest Services Desk to redeem discount.
