As winter wanes and spring approaches, trees and flowers aren’t all that bloom! Thanks to the steamy temperatures of our lush habitats, January through April is PEAK nesting season for an array of adorable birds at the National Aviary. Immerse yourself in the beauty of budding relationships, nesting, and hopefully adorable chicks during our new seasonal theme, Nesting in Nature.

Southern Three-banded Armadillo, and longtime National Aviary Animal Ambassador, Willy, has officially taken up residence in the Grasslands Presented by Vitro Architectural Glass! His presence in our Grasslands habitat also exemplifies a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem that supports birds and mammals alike, and all species (including humans) need to flourish. Come see Willy in his new, specially designed area inside the immersive habitat, as he explores his “digs” (alongside feathered habitat-mates) during your next National Aviary visit.
