The Plants Our Birds Rely On: Greenery Behind-the-Scenes.

The final Expert Talk of 2025 will feature an unsung but vital feature of the National Aviary: the plants! Manager of Horticulture, Sara Showers, will invite Members to consider how our birds and plants interact. With a walk around the Aviary to admire these unsung specimens, Sara will discuss what goes into sustaining these natural landscapes year-round. For green thumbs and for those who can’t tell a maple from an elm, this talk will give all Members a chance to stop and smell the roses.

Members can learn all about this work and more from this one hour presentation and then enjoy their complimentary admission to stroll our lush, naturalistic habitats. This event is a great way to spend a day with friends and family or flying solo. Meet fellow Members to connect with bird lovers like you, or listen and learn!
