Welcome! National Aviary welcomes two baby chicks
The National Aviary on Pittsburgh’s North Side is “overjoyed” to welcome the arrival of two baby penguins.
The African Penguin chicks hatched on February 7 and February 10. The chicks are growing but at the time of their birth, the first chick weighed as much as a pack of gun, the second baby weighted the same as a sugar packet.
The Aviary announced the hatching on Wednesday.
The chicks currently out of the public eye, in a behind-the-scenes habitat “under the watchful eyes of Mom and Dad, Bette and Sidney!” the Aviary said in a post.
The Aviary says the two new chicks are the 11th and 12th fledged by the parents.
