National Aviary announces arrival of Luzon bleeding-heart dove chick

The aviary announced the arrival of a Luzon bleeding-heart dove chick. The bird gets its name from the scarlet-colored markings on its chest.

According to the aviary, Luzon bleeding-heart doves are native to the island of Luzon in the Philippines. The bird’s natural habitat includes primary and secondary forests, and its diet consists of seeds, berries and insects found on the forest floor.
