Autism Awareness Month: Autism Resources, Events, and More

April is Autism Awareness Month. There are many resources in the Pittsburgh area for families and people with autism [ASD]. Below are some of the local and national resources that you can look into to learn more about autism, find support and services, as well as sensory-friendly spaces and events.

Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania Resources:

  • Autism Pittsburgh works to raise awareness and provide resources to families across Pittsburgh. You can visit their site to learn about upcoming programs, find support circles, and more!
  • Autism Services, Education, Resources, and Training Collaborative (ASERT) is a state program meant to access to resources and programming to families and individuals with autism.
  • Autism Connection PA offers outreach, education, and support to families and individuals with autism.
  • KultureCity focuses has resources for sensory-friendly needs. This includes a map of places around Pittsburgh (and the entire U.S.) that have sensory-friendly areas or events.

Sensory-Friendly Events and Spaces:

While this list is by no means complete, we hope that it will help guide to find the resources you are looking for. Whether you or someone you love has Level 1 ASD or Level 3, there are resources out there to help you find services and activities to enjoy.
