AZA Accreditation Commission Grants Accreditation to 22 Facilities, including National Aviary

The National Aviary is proud to receive accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA); we have maintained continuous accreditation since 1984. AZA accreditation is the gold standard for zoological institutions. In order to achieve accreditation, zoos undergo a rigorous evaluation process designed to ensure that animal welfare and wellbeing, veterinary care, conservation efforts, education programs, safety, financial stability, and other criteria are of the highest quality. AZA accreditation is a reflection of the National Aviary’s commitment to providing exceptional care to the more than 500 animals who call the Aviary home, and of our commitment to serving our community through education programs and conservation work.
