Night in the Tropics was on Fire!


It was the hottest night in July, and we are not talking about the weather.

The 2014 Night in the Tropics’ fiery theme turned up the heat for the 1,000 people who flocked to the National Aviary’s annual fundraising event. Surpassing all previous years, the event raised over $190,000!

New this year to the Night in the Tropics was the Taste Awards. Guests had the opportunity to vote for their favorites from among the nearly two dozen restaurants and bakeries who participated in the event. 

This year’s winners included:

  • Best Savory: Ditka’s, Tuna Sashimi
  • Best Sweet: Priory Fine Pastries, Raspberry-n-Cream Macaroon & Peanut Butter Ganache Cupcakes
  • Best Presentation: Ditka’s, Tuna Sashimi
