Waddle We Do Without Penguins?

The National Aviary is the leader of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA): Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE)Program for African Penguins. The program is coordinated by National Aviary Senior Conservation Scientist Dr. Patty McGill, who works with colleagues at the Aviary and around the world to identify and address the short-term and long-term challenges plaguing the species.

Dr. Patty will share the entire conservation picture regarding this Critically Endangered species and inform Members about how SAFE Programs are structured and implemented throughout multiple AZA-accredited facilities and partner organizations.

Members can learn all about this work and more from Dr. Patty during her 45-minute presentation and then enjoy light refreshments
