National Aviary Closures

Caring for birds and mammals is still our top priority during these uncertain times. Please consider helping today. Through your donation or membership, we can continue providing for animals at the National Aviary, as well as sustain our educational programming. Join us: we're all in this together:

Your health and safety is our utmost concern. That’s why the National Aviary took proactive steps to close on March 14. We are continuing to closely monitor the evolving situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus). While there is no known threat of COVID-19 at the National Aviary, out of an abundance of caution and following the recommendations of experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Aviary will be extending our closure through April 30. During this time, dedicated staff will continue to care for the animals at the National Aviary.

As a nonprofit organization, we rely on sales from admission, gift shop, bird shows, and encounters; all of which are not available during this extended closure. Please consider donating or becoming a member today to help care for our birds and continue to sustain education initiatives in our community, such as our CyBIRD Learning platform, or our Education Corner. If you would like to offer your support during these uncertain times, please consider donating to our Emergency Care Efforts.
