The Green Aracari is one of the smallest members of the toucan family.

Distribution

Eastern Venezuela to northern Brazil.

Habitat

Lowland forests.

Diet

Figs, dates, and other fruits; occasional insects.

Breeding

Nests in tree holes, either natural cavities or old holes excavated by woodpeckers. Clutch size is 2-4 eggs. Both parents incubate the eggs for 17 days, and both care for the young in the nest for up to 45 days. Family groups remain together for several months.
