Virtual Reality Operator, Part-Time

The National Aviary is seeking to fill a part-time ride operator position for our Birdly exhibit. The position, called Virtual Reality Operator, provides our guests with the opportunity to experience what it is like to fly!  

Work among the birds, bats, sloths, and armadillos, and enjoy the ambiance of the National Aviary, while engaging with our guests and providing them with a novel experience!

  • Operate and facilitate guests’ engagement at Birdly, the National Aviary’s bird flight simulation experience
  • Provide information for guests regarding the National Aviary’s exhibits and animal collection.
  • Provide high quality visitor engagement and guest hospitality 
  •  Virtual Reality Operators work in a high-paced environment.
  • All training is provided

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Ability to interact and communicate enthusiastically with a variety of audiences in a professional and helpful manner
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays as scheduled; some evenings, outdoor work and offsite work is required. Work 8-12 hours/week over 2 to 3 days.
  • Ability to assist guests in mounting and disembarking from Birdly
  • Must be able to pass all of our required background investigations
