Virtual Reality Operator (Birdly)

The National Aviary is currently seeking to fill part-time virtual reality operator positions. 

Virtual Reality Operators are part of a dynamic and energetic education department performing all job assignments with a positive attitude that reflects the National Aviary’s mission to inspire a respect for nature through an appreciation of birds. National Aviary Virtual Reality Operators will:

  • Operate and facilitate guest engagement at Birdly, the National Aviary’s bird flight simulation experience
  • Provide interpretive support and communications for the National Aviary’s exhibits, birds and messaging at Birdly
  • Provide high quality visitor engagement and guest hospitality 

 

Virtual Reality Operators work in a high-paced environment. Due to the nature of the work, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to interact and communicate enthusiastically with a variety of audiences in a professional and productive manner
  • Ability to work weekdays, weekends and holidays as scheduled; some evenings, outdoor work and offsite work is required. Maximum of 8-10 total hours per week
  • Ability to perform some heavy physical labor such as lifting up to 50 lbs., reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling
  • Proficiency and experience with standard computer software, virtual reality software, and/or virtual reality mechanics is a plus. Training is provided. 

The successful candidate must be able to pass all three of our background investigations including FBI fingerprinting for Criminal Background, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and PA State Police Criminal Background Investigation. A valid PA Driver’s license is desired.
