Event Coordinator

This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all aspects surrounding our Birthday Party rentals while providing outstanding customer service to the client.

This position is ongoing.

Days needed:    Saturday, Sunday

Number of hours required: 2.5 hours per day, minimum of 5 hours per month

Specific time/ shift required:   10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Volunteer responsibilities:

·         Serve as a liaison between the client, catering team, visitor services and the animal care staff the day of the event

·         Greet clients and their guests; guide groups to the pre-assigned birthday rooms

·         Manage paperwork in coordination with Visitor Services

·         Coordinate event activities and timing and ensure client satisfaction

·         Ensure that the hosts have all of the necessary items supplied by the National Aviary and that the room is set up properly

·         Check in with the client during the event to ensure all of their needs are handled

·         Oversee the event cleanup and resetting for the next event

Qualifications:

·         Highly professional, polite, respectful and responsive when interacting with visitors and colleagues

·         Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills

·         Well organized, with both time management and multi-tasking skills.

·         Able to work on a team and adaptable to a constantly changing work environment

Able to calmly and confidently address any questions, troubleshoot, and know when to call additional support

Requirements:

·         Be at least 18 years old.

·         Submit an online application

·         Participate in a 20-30 minute interview.

·         Have a clear criminal background check and child abuse history.

·         Submit for FBI fingerprinting or sign waiver if eligible. 

·         Have reliable and convenient internet access.

·         Enjoy interacting with the general public.

·         Attend new Volunteer Orientation.

·         Attend at least four (4) of 12 Saturday monthly meetings per year.

·         Commit to a minimum of 50 hours of service per year.
