Your health and safety is our utmost concern. That’s why the National Aviary has been closely monitoring the evolving situation with COVID-19 (Coronavirus). While there is no known threat of COVID-19 at the National Aviary, out of an abundance of caution, the National Aviary will be closed beginning Saturday, March 14 through at least March 31. During this time, dedicated staff will continue to care for the animals at the National Aviary. Status updates can be found here, on the National Aviary’s website.

Adopt-a-Bird

Looking for a creative gift for yourself or a loved one?

A symbolic adoption is the perfect present for the animal lover on your list, helping to support the care of all birds here at the National Aviary.

Adoption Option #1: Adopt a Featured Bird

There are so many from which to choose. Pick your favorite exhibit bird or one in the show. Benefits increase with the level selected.

Adoption Option #2: Adopt a Saw-whet Owl from Project Owlnet $75 (includes measurements and details about your owl)

From mid-October through early December, National Aviary Ornithologist Bob Mulvihill operates a banding station in Sewickley Heights Borough Park 10 miles northwest of downtown Pittsburgh. Now is your chance to symbolically adopt a Saw-whet Owl that was banded locally.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Aviary is closed. Please allow up to two weeks for mailing from the date we reopen to the public.
