Owl-o-ween, Discover-a-Bird Day, Photo Safari and Teacher’s Day!


The National Aviary has a jam-packed schedule of events this month. Make sure to scope them out!

Enjoy spooky-themed crafts, collect candy at various encounters, and even hear one or two icky facts about birds. Included with admission.

Discover-a-Bird
October 13
Discover new frontiers as you explore the exhibits and name, classify, and catalogue the many birds at the National Aviary. Participants can pick up their activity sheet at the National Aviary’s Gift Shop. Included with admission.

Take a photographic adventure at the National Aviary! Join photographer Daniel V. Klein on a special tour of the exhibits at the Aviary. Bring your camera and equipment and learn great tips about capturing the perfect photos. To sign up visit www.silvereye.org or call 412-431-1810. Advance registration required. Members, $28; Non-members, $35.

Holiday Events are Coming Soon!

December 6, 13 and 20, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Forget the mall photos! Children will have the opportunity for an unforgettable holiday photo with Santa himself and one of the National Aviary’s African penguins.

Price is $15 per child and includes admission, a photo, and a special take-away. Adults pay regular admission price of $9; $8 seniors. Members fee is $7.50 per child.


Members’ Appreciation Event!
December 6, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

Having trouble finding the perfect holiday gift? Enjoy a special 15% discount at the Aviary’s Gift Shop and special helpers to wrap your purchases during our holiday members’ appreciation event. Kids will be able to make edible ornaments for the birds in their backyard and enjoy themed coloring pages. Santa will also be on hand with one of his African penguin buddies to pose for photos. Holiday cookies, coffee and hot chocolate will be provided.

It’s not too early to plan your holiday party at the National Aviary, which offers a unique variation on the typical venue. Host intimate soirees under the indoor Victorian-inspired glass-domed atrium, where guests can mingle with the more than 200 species of birds on exhibit.
