Training 101

If you have ever been to the National Aviary and have seen a hawk land majestically on a trainer's glove or have marveled at a talking parrot, you have probably asked yourself, “How do they do that?” In this introductory workshop, you can discover what training goes into the complex behaviors that birds display in our indoor and outdoor FliteZone™ bird shows. With a solid foundation of the terms and techniques used in positive reinforcement and classical conditioning training, you'll leave the Aviary with all of the basic tools you need to start training almost any animal — including your dog, your cat, your parrot, or even your spouse!
