NEW! Kid-focused programs designed especially for children ages 2-5

All summer long, every Monday is Peepers Monday! Children under 6 receive FREE admission to the National Aviary for up to two children per family.

Every Monday at 10:30 a.m., kids enjoy stories, bird encounters and activities. Included with admission.

Dora and Diego at the National Aviary

Meet Nickelodeon™’s Dora the Explorer and her cousin Diego and have your photo taken with them! Bring your backpack and your rescue pack and look for stars in an interactive scavenger hunt for children under 7. ˇVámonos!

Early Bird Special
Saturday, September 6th

Macaw eating a carrotSpend an early morning with over 600 exotic and endangered birds. Join keepers from the National Aviary for a continental breakfast, during which you'll enjoy live bird presentations. Talk with the staff, learn fascinating facts, and take photos.
Following breakfast, go behind the scenes to the National Aviary's kitchen where you'll find out what the birds are eating that morning. Then it's on to hand-feed the birds in our free-flight exhibit rooms.
The morning concludes with a colorful encounter in the Lories & Friends exhibit. All guests will be given nectar cups to share with the National Aviary's colorful flock of Rainbow Lorikeets.

$18 adults; $15 children; member discount available.

Kids’ Day

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.


Children under 12 receive FREE admission to the National Aviary. Bring your favorite teddy bears or stuffed animals and our staff will give them a vet check-up!



Public Safety Day

11 a.m. – 1 p.m.


Learn how to be a safe citizen and a good neighbor, and meet some of the people who help make our city safe!

National Aviary Hawk Mountain Trip
Saturday, October 11th through Sunday, October 12th


View wild birds on migration with the experienced staff of the National Aviary and the experts at Hawk Mountain and Powdermill Nature Reserve. Join the National Aviary on an exclusive trip to Hawk Mountain, widely regarded as one of the best sites in the eastern United States to watch birds of prey on migration! The trip also includes a visit to Powdermill Nature Reserve and its Avian Research Center.

$125 – $275 for National Aviary members
$150 – $300 for non-members
