The National Aviary is located on Pittsburgh’s historic North Side, just minutes from downtown Pittsburgh, PNC Park and the Children’s Museum. Limited free parking is available in the National Aviary lot. Additional metered parking is available along Arch Street.
Driving Directions to the National Aviary To use MapQuest, Google Maps, or similar on-line location tools, use “700 Arch Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212” as the destination address. From the EAST via I-376/Parkway East (Including Monroeville, Swissvale, Squirrel Hill, Oakland) Take I-376 to Pittsburgh. Follow the signs for the North Shore and I-279 North. Cross the Fort Duquesne Bridge and take the North Shore exit to the left. At the stoplight, turn right onto Allegheny Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Western Avenue. At the third stoplight, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your left. From the NORTHEAST via Rt. 28 (Including Fox Chapel, Aspinwall, Tarentum, Kittanning) Take Rt. 28 south towards Pittsburgh. Take the East Ohio Street exit. Take East Ohio through four lights. Turn right onto Cedar. At the next light, turn left onto North Street. At the third light, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your right. From the WEST via I-279 & US 22/30 /Parkway West (Including Airport, Robinson; Moon; Weirton, WV; Steubenville, OH) Take US 22/30 east to I-279 towards Pittsburgh. Follow the signs for the North Shore and go through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Once you are on the Fort Pitt Bridge, move immediately into the left lane. Take the I-279/North Shore exit onto the Fort Duquesne Bridge. Take the North Shore exit to the left. At the stoplight, turn right onto Allegheny Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Western Avenue. At the third stoplight, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your left. From the SOUTH via Rt. 51 (Including South Hills, West Mifflin, Brookline) Take Rt. 51 to the West End. Cross the West End bridge (Rt. 19). Remain in the right lane, and follow the signs for Western Avenue. Merge onto Western and proceed through four traffic lights, following the road’s curves after the fourth light. At the fifth light, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your left. From the SOUTH via I-79 (Including South Fayette; Bridgeville; Washington, PA) Take I-79 north to I-279 towards Pittsburgh. Follow the signs for the North Shore and go through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. Once you are on the Fort Pitt Bridge, move immediately into the left lane. Take the I-279/North Shore exit onto the Fort Duquesne Bridge. Take the North Shore exit to the left. At the stoplight, turn right onto Allegheny Avenue. At the second stoplight, turn right onto Western Avenue. At the third stoplight, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your left. From the NORTH via I-279/Parkway North (Including McKnight, North Hills, Cranberry) Take I-279 towards Pittsburgh. Take the East Street exit and turn right onto North Avenue. At the fifth light, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your right. From the NORTH via Rt. 8 and 28 (Including Butler, Shaler, Etna, Glenshaw) Take Rt. 8 then Rt. 28 south towards Pittsburgh. Take the East Ohio Street exit. Take East Ohio through four lights. Turn right onto Cedar. At the next light, turn left onto North Street. At the third light, turn left onto Arch Street. The National Aviary will be on your right. From the WEST via Rt. 65 (Including Sewickley, Emsworth, Avalon, Bellevue) Take Rt. 65 south towards Pittsburgh . Take the North Shore exit, veering to the right. At the second light, turn left onto Allegheny Avenue. At the third stoplight, turn right onto Western Avenue. At the third stoplight, turn left onto Arch Street.
