Prepare for a colorful brush with nature as our flock of rainbow lorikeets fly down for a visit. These fearless and flashy birds consider humans to be an excellent source of entertainment, particularly when they visit bearing cups of nectar.
Attired in a striking color combination of emerald green, orange, midnight blue, ruby red and lemon yellow, the lories, as they are affectionately known, will happily land on visitor’s hands to get the best vantage point for a treat.
Rainbow lorikeets are native to the coastal areas of Australia where they feed on nectar and pollen from the blossoms of native plants, fruit and insects. They use their sharp, curved beaks to tear at fruit and flowers and work their tongue like a paintbrush to mop up nectar from flowers.
