From the rocky shores of South Africa to the North Shore of Pittsburgh, the pounding drums welcome our team of African penguins to their new exhibit, Penguin Point.

Come join the Grand Opening celebration and enjoy Cape Town cocktails, delectable food and great entertainment including a concert by Tom Watt, Pittsburgh’s very own “Buffettman.”

Penguin Point is the first exhibit opening as part of the Aviary’s renovation project. Penguin Point is a $1.8 million state-of-the-art exhibit featuring a Kids’ ViewTube — a tunnel into which children can crawl to get up-close views of the penguins’ underwater antics, as well as their rocky nesting grounds. The 2,300 square-feet exhibit will house a team of 10-12 African penguins, including Sidney, the latest penguin to join the National Aviary’s squad.
