Visit African Penguins in their natural habitat!

The National Aviary invites you on an adventure to South Africa with the world-renown Classic Escapes on September 16-26, 2009.

Escorted by Steve Sarro, the National Aviary’s Director of Animal Programs, begin the excursion in Cape Town and meet your Classic Escapes guide. Explore the urbane capital of Cape Town and continue along the peninsula for a diverse and breathtaking adventure to Cape Point. A highlight of the trip includes an outing to Boulders Beach, the rocky home of the African Penguins. Visit the National Aviary’s affiliate SANCCOB (South African Foundation for the Conservation of Coastal Birds) and learn how the organization works to protect sea birds in the wild. Journey via cable car to the top of Table Mountain, marvel at the extraordinary and vivid plant life at the Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens, take a boat ride to Robben Island, sample wines from local vineyards throughout the Winelands region, and relish in the history and community of New Rest. Finally, safari in Kruger National Park and encounter a countless number of plant and animal species including giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, elephants, white rhinos, lions, leopards and cheetahs.
