Welcome Migratory Birds Back to our Area!

Help us welcome back our migratory feathery friends from their winters in the tropics with special migration-themed activities! Visitors will get a chance to learn what birds experience during their migration to and from the tropics and enjoy crafts, daily feedings, and special take-aways.

Spread your wings and fly this summer with the National Aviary's free-flight summer bird show, featuring amazing flights and close encounters! Welcome back some of your favorite birds to our summer bird show and see some new additions and surprises.

Wookiee, our spokes-sloth, invites you to visit him on Tuesdays during the summer, when we’ll be offering two-for-one admission... or if you ask Wookiee, “two-fur-one!”

Tuesdays only, two admissions for the price of one. The price of the higher admission will apply.

Attention jazz fans! Enjoy the music of our birds with jazz musician Anthony Braxton and the Syrinx Ensemble in two special public concerts. The birds will take center stage as musicians play music inspired by the sounds of nature. The concerts are free with Aviary admission and will take place in the National Aviary’s free-flight exhibits, the Wetlands and the Tropical Forest.

Spend an early morning with over 600 exotic and endangered birds. Join keepers from the National Aviary for a continental breakfast, during which you'll enjoy live bird presentations. Talk with the staff, learn fascinating facts, and take photos.
Following breakfast, go behind the scenes to the National Aviary's kitchen where you'll find out what the birds are eating that morning. Then it's on to hand-feed the birds in our free-flight exhibit rooms.
The morning concludes with a colorful encounter in the Lories & Friends exhibit. All guests will be given nectar cups to share with the National Aviary's colorful flock of Rainbow Lorikeets.
