10:15 AM Feeding Time! Wetlands of the Americas
There's something fishy going on every morning in the National Aviary's largest walk-through exhibit. Join trainers for a feed-out and watch as the Inca Terns fly down for a high-protein snack of fish smelts. Toss a fish to the Brown pelicans, join in the Flamingo dance, and say hello to Joanie, the Wattled Curassow.
10:30 AM Penguin Premiere Mon. & Tues.
in the Atrium
Meet Stanley, Elvis, Simon or Patrick, the National Aviary's quartet of African Penguins. Discover the remarkable ways that nature has equipped them to 'fly' under water, avoid predators, and raise their young. You'll also learn how you can make a difference in protecting endangered penguin species around the world.
11:00 AM Feeding Time! Tropical Forest
A fly-by of the feathered kind! Join our trainers in feeding a brilliant variety of birds a snack of wiggly worms, crickets, and grapes. Watch as Golden-breasted Starlings, Carmine Bee-eaters, Fairy Bluebirds and other feathered friends enjoy a late morning snack.
