Can’t make the flight down to the National Aviary? Then let us bring the beauty of nature to you. From penguins to parrots, there is always a feathery friend available to brighten your classroom and inspire your students.


Preschool Presentations

30 minutes
Locations must be within 25 miles of the National Aviary.
$250 per program; discount for back-to-back programs. Second program $175. If audience is over 50 students, please provide microphone.


Mother Nature’s Diner
Ever wonder what birds eat in the wild? Do they eat worms, seeds or fruit? Maybe even a mouse? In an interactive puppet show, “Mother Nature” demonstrates what birds eat through the use of real food from the Aviary kitchen.


Penguins, Penguins Everywhere!
Do you like to swim? Would you like to wear a feather coat? How about eating fish for breakfast? Preschoolers will learn what it takes to swim, waddle, slide, and even eat like a penguin through interactive storytelling and a special visit from one of the National Aviary’s African penguins!


Who’s In There?
In this class, students will learn about the egg and the many types of life that grow inside. Through interactive story telling, touchable eggs, and live birds, the amateur naturalist will discover what hatches from the incredible egg!

Amazing Adaptations
What makes a bird a bird? Find the answer to this and more as the National Aviary introduces students to the diverse world of birds and their amazing adaptations. Live birds, models of feathers, beaks and feet are used to explore this fascinating class of animals.


Birds of Prey
Learn about the hunters of the sky and discover what makes these birds different from other bird species. Through biofacts and live bird presentations, students will gain an appreciation for the important role that hawks, owls, eagles, vultures and falcons play in the wild.


Penguins Are Cool... Or Are They?
Did you know that not all pengins live in cold weather? Students will learn fun facts about the 17 different species of penguins.
