These hands-on educational classes provide a unique chance to explore science and nature while interacting with other students and working in small groups. Topics cover a variety of academic subjects and include up-close encounters with bird species from around the world.

Oct 21	Nevermore!: Birds in Stories and Legends Does the call of an owl really mean “bad luck”? Can a raven really say “Nevermore”? Birds have been a part of our imaginations and our stories for centuries – come to the National Aviary and learn about a few of theparticularly fun and spooky myths, legends, and stories surrounding ourfeathered friends!
Nov 11	Habitat Safari: Wetlands Wild and wonderful wetlands play a very important role in our environment. Learn all about what makes wetlands valuable and unique, why many of them are in trouble, and get to know some of the fascinating plants and animals that call wetlands their home.
Nov 18	Habitat Safari: Rainforest Rainforests are home to more than 50% of all earth’s species, but this amazing habitat is disappearing at an alarming rate. Meet some of the plants and animals that depend on the rainforest, learn about what you can do to help preserve it, and discover why humans depend on rainforests, too!
