Who’s In There?
There’s always something hatching at the National Aviary! In this class, students will learn about the egg and the many types of life that grow inside. Using interactive story telling, touchable eggs and live birds, the amateur naturalist will discover what is hatching from the incredible egg!
Mother Nature’s Diner
Ever wonder what birds eat in the wild? Do they eat worms, seeds or fruit? Maybe even a mouse? Meet “Mother Nature” as she shares with the children what birds eat through the use of real food from our kitchen in an interactive puppet show.
K-12 Presentations
Programs run 45 minutes to one hour in length.
Birds of Prey
Learn about the hunters of the sky. What makes these birds different from other birds? Through the use of biofacts and live birds, students will appreciate the important role hawks, owls, eagles, vultures and falcons play in the wild.
Amazing Adaptations
What does it take for a bird to be a bird? Find out the answer to this question and more as the National Aviary introduces students to the diverse world of birds and their amazing adaptations! Live birds, feathers, beaks and feet will be used to explore this interesting class of animals.
NEW! Penguins are cool — or are they?
Did you know not all penguins live in cold weather? Students will learn fun facts like this and even more about the 17 different species of penguins through this class. The participants will be able to discover what makes this flightless bird different and unique compared to all of the other birds.
