Dino-soars!

Photo: Condor and dinosaur skullHey, Kids! Fly back through time with the National Aviary for our 2008 Dino-soars! Summer Camp. Get to know some of the amazing animals that share our world today and discover what life was like on our planet in ages past.

During camp week you’ll meet feathered friends at the National Aviary, encounter sharks, crocodiles and other “living fossils” at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, and explore the Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s new Dinosaurs In Their Time exhibit. Your week finishes with a real fossil dig and an amazing trip to Laurel Caverns, Pennsylvania’s largest cave system!

Each camp session lasts five days; camp hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday thru Thursday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Pre-camp and post-camp care available for a nominal charge. Photo: Prehistoric-looking bird, a Waldraff ibis

Children will be grouped by age as follows: 6–8 years, 9–11 years, 12–14 years

Camp sessions:

  • July 7-11 (Ages 6–8)
  • July 14-18 (Ages 9–11)
  • July 21-25 (Ages 12–14)

Cost: $250 non-members, $225 National Aviary members.
Nominal additional cost for pre-camp care (8 a.m. to 9 a.m.) and/or post-camp care (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.).

To register or for more information, call 412.323.7235, x209 or email.

Camp Scholarships

The National Aviary has scholarships available for children interested in attending our 2008 summer camp, Dino-Soars! One scholarship to cover full tuition is available for each week of summer camp and is dependent on both demonstrated need and a creative submission showing your interest in birds!
