In 2008 three chicks were raised at this nest. They have now left the nest and we have discontinued the FalconCam until next spring when the peregrines’ breeding cycle starts again.
If you are in Oakland, you may see the chicks or their parents flying around for the next few months. The chicks will stay into early autumn, during which time their parents will continue to feed them. Once they leave the area, they will disperse and eventually find their own place to make a nest. Their parents will remain all year and start the breeding cycle again next year in late winter.
Many thanks to Kate St. John who compiled the photos and captions for the “Highlights” slide show. Find out more about the peregrines at the Cathedral of Learning (and other birds) on Kate‘s Bird Blog.
