Proceeds Benefit National Aviary

PITTSBURGH – July 8, 2008

Save the Date

Spend a warm summer evening with feathered friends and enjoy food, music and dancing under the stars at Night in the Tropics, an annual sell-out event to benefit the National Aviary.

Set for Saturday, August 9, the evening’s menu features fare from a variety of Pittsburgh restaurants, including Church Brew Works, Bravo! Italian Kitchen, McCormick and Schmick’s, and Spaghetti Warehouse. Guests will enjoy flavorful cocktails and Penn Brewery beers while mingling with the birds and strolling through the National Aviary’s exhibits.

A highlight of the evening will be appearances by birds from the cast of the National Aviary’s outdoor free-flight bird show FliteZone. After the show, guests can dance to the reggae rhythms of The Freedom Band in the Rose Garden or practice their salsa moves with DJ Carlton as he spins Latin tracks in the Aviary’s Atrium. A raffle for an all-expense paid trip to the tropics courtesy of Sandals Resorts and Liberty Travel will also be offered.

Night in the Tropics takes places Saturday, August 9, 7 pm to 11 pm. Tickets are $50 general admission; $100 for VIP (includes valet parking, pre-event reception from 6 pm-7 pm, VIP lounge with private bar). Valet parking is available for an additional $10. To order tickets, visit www.aviary.org or call 412-323-7235, ext 240.
